Introduction

Kristel:
It’s time to awaken to your ultimate potential. On today’s episode of Two Minutes of Motivation, I’m going to be talking about some of the benefits of laughter and ideas for how to add it into your everyday life.

This week on the show, I spoke with clean comedian Adam Christing, the author of his upcoming book The Laughter Factor. We talked about humor and finding your “laugh language.” I highly recommend checking out that episode if you haven’t yet had the chance.

Today, I want to go a little deeper into the benefits of laughter and why it’s so important to intentionally bring more humor into your life.

Health Benefits of Laughter

Kristel:
Number one, we know that laughter feels good. But there is also research showing that it provides significant health benefits.

Studies show that laughter can reduce stress, boost mood, and even support immune system function — which is fascinating.

Laughter may also help reduce pain. With all of the stressors that come up day to day and everything going on in the world, laughter becomes an important way to lighten the load.

Finding creative ways to make humor a priority can be extremely beneficial for both your mental and physical well-being.

Practical Ways to Add Laughter

Kristel:
One simple thing to consider is the type of content you’re consuming. If you watch TV, are you mostly watching intense dramas? Pay attention to how that makes you feel.

What if you swapped that out for something lighthearted or a comedy? Notice the difference in your mood and energy.

Another area to focus on is your daily interactions. How can you bring more fun, playfulness, and kindness into your conversations?

Look for ways to incorporate more laughter into your everyday life. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Lighten the load. Have fun with it.

You may find that adding more humor has a powerful, positive impact on how you feel.
